Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine was a book that definitely made me laugh, cry and was relatable. It didn’t hold back on the reality of how life can just be difficult to deal with, but if you have the right people in place, you can get through whatever you’re going through.

When you come across most books, they have a similarity, everyone has their own personality or characteristics. Which makes sense because everyone is different, however, it’s rare you get someone who is unique. When I first started reading Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, I immediately knew she was one of the unique ones. She never cared about what people thought, she was just Eleanor. I really appreciated how Honeyman created her character to be just a little different from everyone else, she made an impression.

If you’ve ever watched the T. V. Show Bones, Eleanor reminds me a lot of the main character Temperance Brennan a.k.a “Bones”. The blunt, straightforward, no BS, slightly socially awkward character, which I really loved because in some ways was relatable.

I really enjoyed this book and I almost gave it four stars and the only reason I didn’t is because it felt slow to get to the point. I felt there was a lot of beginning and even some of the middle where I was left wondering when I was going to get to/back to the good parts. I also didn’t love the way it needed because it felt as though it needed more. It ended abruptly and I wish it went into more depth. That being said, reading this book was a good change and I’ll be reading more of Gail Honeyman in the future.
