THE CARPENTER CONFESSIONS REVIEW:
Spooky Season has come to an end and this is my last thriller and buddy read of the month. I read this as an audiobook and loved the lady who read it. I’m going to be honest, I didn’t love this book. It fell a little flat for me, but the point of the story was enjoyable.
Thrillers are my favorite genre and I’d say I’ve read a lot of them. When I read In a Dark, Dark Wood, I felt like there wasn’t anything that a thriller entails. The suspense wasn’t there and the way the story developed did really make sense to how it ended. In addition, I hated all the characters involved, most of them pointless. I just didn’t really love it. I wish I did because the point of the story was really creative and I think I may have liked it more if the suspense and details were there. I feel like I sound kinda harsh and I don’t mean to make this book sound like the worst, I just wasn’t impressed. However, I didn’t hate everything about it. I don’t regret reading In a Dark, Dark Wood because there were moments that really made the book interesting and a really good scene. I can’t wait to read other Ruth Ware books because I’ve hear amazing things about her as a writer!
WHO I’D RECOMMEND TO:
This would be a good book for someone who likes a quick thriller that doesn’t have much suspense or anything too content heavy.
FORMAT:
Physical Book and AudioBook
The audiobook was really good and I prefered listening than reading this book!
