The Carpenter Confessions Rating: ★★★★☆

In Five Years by Rebecca Serle was amazing, emotional, and educational about relationships of all kinds. You start the book out thinking it’s going to go in one direction, the next the whole plot switches into something unexpected. At first I wasn’t sure this book was worth the hype, but I was definitely wrong.

The book starts with Dannie Cohan, a type-A lawyer, falling asleep in 2020 and waking up five years later with a different man, in a different house, and a different life. She has no idea what’s going on and none of her questions are being answered. Lasting only a night, Dannie wakes back up in 2020 with life back to normal. Dannie isn’t the type that thinks this is just a dream and  can’t seem to shake this dream and what it all means. While life goes on, four and a half years later, Dannie comes across the same man that she was with that night. Was this all a dream or did Dannie see the future? In Five Years is filled with question upon question and there are some tears along the way.

I get really excited when new books get released because it’s a chance to get to put in your opinion without outside influence. Even though I’m still a little late to getting to read In Five Years and everyone seemed to love it, I got to read it before it became too popular. I really liked In Five Years because throughout the book there are friendships that never fail, life experiences that are relatable, and much more.

I didn’t give this book a five star because I did feel that in the first half it was a little slow and didn’t get to the point till later in the book. I understand that it was setting the scene for the second half, but I almost paused the book because I was getting bored and thought that this book might not get any better. I ate my words because it was amazing. Serle did an amazing job portraying all the characters so you understand personalities and relationships between everyone. In Five Years was worth the read and highly recommended!
