Finding five star books can be really hard in the world of so many stories. You find yourself critiquing everything about the story, finding the things you love and/or hate. When The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker came across my Instagram feed as being a five star book for most people, I had to figure out what this book was all about. Turns out, The Simple Wild is a five star for me as well! Filled with so much emotion, you cry at one paragraph and are filled with joy the next.
The Simple Wild starts out in Toronto, Canada with Calla Fletcher getting a phone call from a woman telling her, her estranged father in Alaska, has lung cancer. Calla makes the hard decision to go to Alaska for a week to spend time with her ailing father before it’s too late. While she’s there, she finds herself in a culture shock she’s not sure she can handle. Calla starts understanding the reason her mom once loved her dad and starts loving him too. Calla feels as though she needs more time where time isn’t. Calla’s father, Wren, owns and runs a plane company called Wild that runs all over Alaska. Calla meets Jonah, who is Wren's best pilot, and she seems to have feelings for. Not wanting to get stuck in Alaska like her mother, Calla tries to not get too attached to anything Alaskan. This story is filled with so many moments you won’t want to miss.
I have discovered bookstagram is where almost all the good books are. This is my third or so five star book I have found on there. This book was amazing and I’m so glad I came across it. This made me want to ugly cry a few times and I did once. The love story felt real and not like a Hallmark love story. It has real struggles of how life can take you different directions. All in all, this book lives up to my expectations.
This book was definitely a five star because the plot was set up nicely, I felt it flowed well because it went moment by moment and didn’t skip days. The context was filled with all different types of things that were relatable. I don’t have anything bad to say about it, besides I wish it went on longer! I’ll definitely be reading Wild At Heart.
